Big Softy is Hijac (Barry, Wales) and s.g.cackle (Norwich). They met in 2021 through a SoundCloud compilation put out by Hyperpop Records (the label was called that before Spotify stole the genre name 🔪), both having spent the previous decade making music under various aliases.
Hijac got into production via Diplo and Dillon Francis (lowk embarrassingly) before moving to London, finding PC Music, and meeting SOPHIE at Heaven who was vaping at the bar.
s.g.cackle came through metal and hardcore. Seeing Enter Shikari at the UEA LCR at age 14 spiritually changed him (lowk embarrassingly).
SOPHIE was the place they converged.
