The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank (GBRFB) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that collects and distributes donated food and other products to benefit those in need across its 11-parish service area. The GBRFB works with more than 130 agencies for outreach, including pantries, meal sites, shelters, soup kitchens and more. Programs like Adopt-A-Senior, BackPack and monthly Mobile Pantries provide additional assistance to specific demographic groups or geographic locations.
Last year, the GBRFB distributed 9.6 million meals across 11 parishes. In 2013, more than 2,616 volunteers donated time equivalent to roughly 13 full-time employees. The GBRFB is a proud member of Feeding America and is a United Way community partner.
Each dollar donated provides the equivalent of 5 meals for those in need. The GBRFB relies on the strong community support that allows us to feed the hungry across 11 parishes.
