I'm a self driving car engineer in New Zealand who actually works on self driving cars. When I got my PhD, I felt that there was a large gap between technical and non-technical people. I feel that this gap doesn't need to exist, and the technical world is able to be undestood by everyone. Yes, that means things like self driving cars, machine learning, neural networks, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and all sorts of new tech that makes the world go round.
I firmly believe that you don't need to have a PhD to make contributions in the technical world, and that information from everyday people can contribute, shape, and advance technology for everyone.
