Praying Mantis are an English rock band. Originally part of the new wave of British heavy metal, they pursued a musical direction more melodic and AOR-sounding than their contemporaries Iron Maiden and Saxon.

Praying Mantis are a rock band formed in London, England, in 1973 by brothers Chris and Tino Troy. Latest releases include the critically acclaimed studio album 'GRAVITY' and a live album 'KEEP IT ALIVE!', filmed at the Frontiers Music Festival in 2018. Praying Mantis continue to tour and record.

2019 marks the 40th Anniversary of New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). The movement was formed in London in 1979 when DJ Neal Kay provided the platform for bands such as Praying Mantis, Iron Maiden, Samson and Angel Witch to air their music. Thanks to the incredibly loyal fans Mantis continues to promote their own melodic style of NWOBHM whilst touring in the UK, Europe and Japan and are producing some of the best music in their 45+ year history.
The band are currently working on a new studio album, to be released through Frontiers Music in 2021.
