The Public Trust of New Zealand is a crown entity that provides trustee services to those unwilling to use private services, or required by the courts or legislation to use Public Trust. Before 2001 Public Trust was a government-appointed corporation sole and was called the Public Trustee.

We are an autonomous Crown entity and New Zealand’s largest provider of estate planning and management services, helping Kiwis with their important life planning, including writing their wills, putting enduring powers of attorney (EPAs) in place, and administering the estates of their loved ones.
We’ve been here since 1873 when we were established as the world’s first public trustee services organisation to protect the estates of some of New Zealand’s most vulnerable people. Since then, we have helped over 2.3 million Kiwis protect what matters most to them.
