Biography

The Rwanda Scouts Association is the national Scouting organization of Rwanda. Scouting in Rwanda was founded in 1940 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in 1975. The coeducational association has 61,000 members.

Rwanda Scouts Association is a registered National Non-Government Organization (NGO), registered by the Rwanda Governance Board and governed by the Law N° 20/2000 of 26/07/2000 related to non-profit- making associations as amended by the Law No. 4/2012 of 17/02/2012 governing the organization and the functioning of national non-governmental organization.

Rwanda Scouts Association is affiliated World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). The Scout Movement is an educational movement for young people, based on voluntary services; it is a movement, which remains non-political and does include all religions. It is open to all without distinction of gender, origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and scout method as conceived by the Founder, Baden Powell.
