The Old Globe is a professional theatre company in Balboa Park in San Diego, California. It produces about 15 plays and musicals annually in summer and winter seasons. Plays are performed in three separate theatres in the complex, which is collectively called the Simon Edison Centre for the Performing Arts:Old Globe Theatre – 600-seat flagship theatre, fully enclosed, featuring the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre – 250-seat intimate theatre in the round Lowell Davies Festival Theatre – 605-seat outdoor theatre

The Globe is San Diego’s flagship performing arts institution and serves a vibrant community with theatre as a public good. The Globe produces a year-round season of 16 productions of classic, contemporary, and new works, including its internationally renowned Shakespeare Festival. More than 250,000 people annually attend Globe productions and participate in the theatre’s artistic and arts engagement programs. Its nationally prominent Arts Engagement Department provides an array of participatory programs that make theatre matter to more people in neighborhoods throughout the region. The Globe also boasts a range of new play development, as well as the renowned The Old Globe and University of San Diego Shiley Graduate Theatre Program. Numerous world premieres have been developed at The Old Globe and have gone on to highly successful runs on Broadway and across the country.
